Saturday 14th October 2017: A Thousand Years of Building with Stone

A Thousand Years of Building with Stone – a talk by Dr Kate Andrew.  Much awareness and knowledge of our stone-built heritage has been forgotten and lost over time, placing many buildings at risk which give particular character to our towns and villages. The “A Thousand Years of Building with Stone” project has aimed, where possible to reunite stone structures with the quarries that supplied their building material.  Kate Andrew was formerly Shropshire County Council’s Curator of Natural History based at Ludlow Museum, and Principal Heritage Officer at Herefordshire Council. For the past four years Kate has been Project Manager for the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Earth Heritage Trust, managing the HLF funded “A Thousand Years of Building with Stone“project.  2.30pm at the Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, SY2 6ND.
